About UX Testbench

An open-source usability testing and behavioral research bench for ethical designers and product teams.

Our Mission

Modern UX research tools have become increasingly extractive: bundling dark patterns, aggressive tracking cookies, bloated client-side JavaScript, and pricing models that make usability testing inaccessible to independent researchers, non-profits, and educational institutions.

UX Testbench was built on a different premise: research tooling should be transparent, lightweight, self-hostable, and grounded in sound statistical decision theory.

Architectural Principles

SQLite-Per-Project Isolation

Every study runs against its own isolated SQLite database file. Participant responses never leak into a shared multi-tenant table.

Human-Readable YAML Config

Studies can be fully versioned in Git. Every step, question, prototype asset, and branching condition is transparent and reproducible.

Statistical Honesty

No deceptive vanity metrics. We report adjusted Wald/Wilson score confidence intervals, median completion durations, and Bayesian probability of superiority.

Zero Third-Party Trackers

Participant IP addresses and interactions are never broadcast to ad brokers or third-party behavioral analytics firms.
